"Pokemon GO" fans have been waiting for rare Pokemon from Generation 2 and Niantic Labs has been doling out rare monsters like the rare species that they are. And it's looking like fans would have to wait for Ingress Events to get their hands on Smeargle and other rare Pokemon.
According to the Pokemon GO Hub, data miners decoded the 0.57.2 GAME_MASTER and discovered that Smeargle's moves are not yet encoded. This could possibly mean that Smeargle would not be available anytime soon for "Pokemon GO."
While data shows nothing of Smeargle's signature Sketch move and no animations, Ditto has the same placeholder moves as Smeargle. So logic dictates, and the fans are speculating, that Smeargle would be released the same way Ditto was.
The Forbes reports that Ditto was released disguised as other Pokemon such as Rattatas, Pidgeys, Spearows and Magikarp which turned into Ditto when hatched. Ditto was launched during "Pokemon GO's" Thanksgiving Event, further supporting the theory that Smeargle is going to be launched during Ingress Events.
In another report, Niantic Labs has recently uploaded the models of Generation 2 Pokemon. Data miners, following a routine inquiry (read: data digging), discovered that Smeargle, Delbird, and other Legendary Pokemon are still not in the game.
According to the same report, the Legendary Pokemon from Generation 2 include Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Celebi. While these Pokemon are eagerly awaited, fans of "Pokemon GO" will be disappointed to know that they would still not be launched in the future events since the Legendary Pokemon from Generation 1 are still unavailable.
Another huge blow to the fans is that there is no Generation 2 Pokemon to have been confirmed as being region exclusive, according to the data miners. For the latest update and gameplay tweaks, follow this link.
Fans of "Pokemon GO," however, can watch out for Gyms changing team colors as Smeargle is known to perform the move Sketch. Also, in an episode of the animated series, Smeargle vandalizes the town of Whitestone using the red, blue and yellow colors. That said, Ditto appeared during the Thanksgiving event masquerading as another Pokemon, fans can expect Smeargle to appear the same way.
