Eagle Grabs Baby: Is the Viral Video a Fake? [VIDEO]

A YouTube video of a baby being snatched by an eagle has gone viral on the web, but many are speculating whether or not the video is a fake or not. The video posted by YouTube user McNuclearCat shows what is supposedly a golden eagle flying down to a park and grabbing a baby.

The video which is called "Golden Eagle Snatches kid shows the eagle flying and then swooping down and grabbing a small child and flying with it for a few seconds before it lets go of the small child, who starts crying.

The Huffington Post reported that Montreal animation school Center NAD posted on a blog that their student created the video. The post says, The "Golden Eagle Snatches Kid" video, uploaded to YouTube on the evening of December 18, was made by Normand Archambault, Loïc Mireault and Félix Marquis-Poulin, students at Centre NAD, in the production simulation workshop class of the Bachelors degree in 3D Animation and Digital Design."

The post said that the eagle and the child were created in 3d animation and then added to the film.

Gawker also posted a number of reasons in a recent article to why the video must be a fake. Included on this list is that the incident was never in any Canadian media. Gawker also looked closely at the video and noticed that one of the wings disappears for a moment while in the air and the bird's shadow is inconsistent, disappearing and reappearing multiple times.

The also posted bird this quote by bird expert Kenn Kaufman, "A golden eagle tries to snatch a baby in Montreal,' and the video goes viral. But it's faked. Golden Eagle is a scarce visitor in the Montreal area, but the bird in the video is not a Golden Eagle, nor anything else that occurs in the wild in North America. This was clearly a setup: using a falconer's bird, and probably a fake toddler for the distant scene. With all the ignorance about nature that's out there already, the last thing we need is this kind of stupid garbage."
