'Overwatch' Themed Playboy Magazine Shot Down By Blizzard

"Overwatch" is on the most popular video games around even after being out for a while now. This popularity leads the title to be subject to a number games, which were directly inspired by its mechanics and surprisingly, even in the adult entertainment history and recently, with a crossover between Playboy magazine.

Just last year, "Overwatch" was literally everywhere on the internet and X-rated exhibits was a part of its prominence in the scene. In fact, it was even the theme of Brazzers' "Oversnatch" film, but Blizzard wasn't too kind with those who used its assets in creating pornography with the use of Source Film Maker. Apparently, the Playwatch magazine, which is also drawing its inspiration from the game, followed suit (via Bitgon).

The site, where the soft-porn images of the women of "Overwatch," now only shows a message on the front page and it states that after receiving a digital copyright protection issue with Blizzard, the site had to shut the site down. The claim appears to coincide with Blizzard's intellectual property rights, which several patrons and patreons of the site, found questionable.

However, as PC Gamer and COG Connected speculate, the order to shut the site down wasn't merely due to it, showcasing slightly not safe for work portrayal of Blizzard's female "Overwatch" characters. What could have possibly triggered the company was the site's Patreon, which appears to be making $63 per issue. Earning money off from a work done by a different party isn't something people should be getting involved with.

Both PCGamer and Bitgon have already tried contacting Blizzard for its comment regarding the issue, but for the meantime, those who have followed the site can still view some remaining covers from several issues on the pages linked. This isn't exactly the first time that "Overwatch" had this kind of treatment, but Blizzard's radar will surely find it, unless it deems these artworks, regardless if they are parodies or not, as long as they either don't earn from the copyrighted materials or give the game a "bad" impression.
