Mayan Apolcalypse 2012: Bugarach Believed to be The Only Place Spared, French Authorities Close Down City

French authorities have asked Mayan apocalypse believers and media crew not to go to Bugarach, the small town which fanatics believe will be the only place spared if the world ends on Dec. 21, 2012.

The mayor of Bugarach Jean-Pierre Delordsaid according to The Telegraph, "I am making an appeal to the world - do not come to Bugarach."

Police also have plans to block access to the village that only has 200 residents, the mayor said to The Telegraph. Routes to Pic de Bugarach will also be closed, which is a mountain that was rumored to have an alien emerge on Dec. 21 and save humans.

"Around 150 police officers will be on duty - with more on standby - to turn away visitors from Bugarach, which in recent weeks has seen an influx of journalists from around the world," reported The Telegraph.

The Daily Mail reported that the small town's salvation revolves around the mountain.

"According to enthusiasts and many who should know better, the Pic de Bugarach is actually home to an enormous hidden UFO garage in which aliens are sitting patiently waiting for Friday, December 21, when they'll scoop up all human 'future survivors' nearby and beam them off to safety."

On Wednesday Delord plans to close the village for five days to anyone who doesn't live there or already booked to stay.

"What if tens of thousands of people turn up?' he said to The Daily Mail. 'I have no way of knowing what will happen," Delord said. "I have no crystal ball! I don't care if people want to chant naked or talk to the trees, but I have to protect my villagers. I am responsible for them."

According to the Mayan "Long Count" calender the date Dec. 21, 2012 marks the end of an era that has lasted over 5,000 years.
