Following the success of the box office hit "Suicide Squad", Warner Bros. starts to arrange a scheme for the sequel. Mel Gibson is one of the frontrunner candidates to direct the big production.
David Ayer directed the first movie installment. Based on DC Comics, "Suicide Squad" is a fictional movie that features villain turned heroes Deadshot, El Diablo, Slipknot, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn and her infamous lover The Joker. Also known as the "Task Force X", the squad went on a risky mission in an attempt to take down super powered individuals that are troubling the community for some time.
Ayer's "Suicide Squad" received favorable reviews from the fans but disfavored by critics for some reasons. Nonetheless, the movie still became a box office movie hit earning $700M gross beating "Captain America: Civil War" according to Forbes reviews.
"Hacksaw Ridge" is Mel Gibson's latest directed movie. Gibson's recent directorial work gained him Oscar nomination for "Best Director" and perhaps the reason why Warner Bros. is considering the filmmaker to direct "Suicide Squad" 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Warner Bros. did not release any official announcement regarding the speculations. But reports are also claiming that the company is in current talk with Gibson. The 1985 "Sexiest Man Alive" is in fact "familiarizing himself with the material", recent sources claim.
Along with Mel Gibson, Warner Bros is eyeing on other potential directors for the upcoming movie. Ruben Fleischer, Daniel Espinosa and Jonathan Levin who accomplished and directed phenomenal films are also being considered to lead the huge project
Meanwhile, Mel Gibson finds himself in a handful of other offers. The American producer is currently in negotiation with Will Ferrell for the sequel of "Daddy's Home". Gibson is also reportedly in talk with Vince Vaughn for a possible indie movie.
