Bette Midler Rumor: Will She Make an Appearance on 'Glee?'

There is a rumor going around that Bette Midler may appear on "Glee." At least that's what shes hoping for. The multi Grammy Award-winning singer and actress is waiting on producer Ryan Murphy to offer her a role on the show after he hinted at it during an event.

Midler is rumored to star on the hit FOX comedy "Glee," joining a list of superstars who have made appearances on the show. She's just waiting on a call from Ryan Murphy, according to Access Hollywood.

When asked is she'll really be appearing on the show, she told Access Hollywood, "I don't know. [Ryan Murphy] never called me. He mentioned it, but... I'm still waiting for the call. But, it's fine!"

During an event to honor Michael Kors, Murphy offered her a role on the show.

"Ryan was also honored that night and he said [in his speech], 'If Bette Midler's in the house I want to invite her onto 'Glee,'" Midler told AH. "And I went, 'OK!'"

Midler hasn't heard anything further about the offer but she knows exactly who she'd want to play if she does get a chance to be on the show. She admires Jane Lynch's character Sue Sylvester, who is full of sarcasm and had a goal of destroying the Glee club.

"I love her. She's hilarious," Bette said of Jane. "Maybe I could play [Sue's] evil sister!"

If Midler does make an appearance, she'll join a list of celebrities who have done so including John Stamos, Olivia Newtown John, Josh Groban, Neil Patrick Harris, Kathy Griffin, Ricky Martin, Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow, and most recently, Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker.

While she may or may not appear on "Glee," although it would be hard to imagine that she wouldn't, fans can catch Midler on the big screen with Billy Crystal and Marisa Tomei in the film "Parental Guidance," which comes out on Christmas Day.
