Hugh Jackman is battling skin cancer for four years now. And for the sixth time, the "Wolverine" star went on a surgery to remove the cancerous cells from his nose. On his Instagram account, the actor revealed that he went on his recent surgical treatment.
"Another basal cell carcinoma. Thanks to frequent body checks and amazing doctors, all is well. Looks worse with the dressing on that off. I swear! #wearsunscreen", the caption wrote.Jackman also shared a selfie of him wth a bandage right across his nose.
"Basal Cell Carcinoma" is an abnormal growth in the skin cells mainly cause by too much exposure to ultraviolet radiation. If left untreated, this type of skin cancer can cause severe disfigurement and in rare cases can cause death.
The 48-year-old Australian actor has always been open about his skin cancer. Jackman first revealed that he is under treatment on 2013 when he shared a selfie of himself with a band-aid on his nose and encourages everyone to wear sunscreen.
Jackman's make-up artist took the first notice when she spotted a splotch of blood on the actor's nose. The "X-Men" star initially thought it was just a dark freckle. His wife Deborra Lee Furness convinced him to go consult a doctor. Results revealed that he have a serious type of skin cancer.
Doctors warned Jackman that the cancerous cell might eventually emerge again. And it did. Over the years the father of two went on several surgical treatments to remove the cancerous cells in his nose.
In some time, the Aussie actor has been noticeably spotted with a band-aid on his nose. In one of his X-men promotional interviews, Jackman admitted that he goes under consultation every three months. He added that he is trying to be positive about his health.
Too much exposure to sunlight radiation has been the main cause of Jackman's skin cancer. Prior to his own health experience, Jackman encourages his fans to wear sunscreen. In fact, the actor launched his own brand of sunscreen on 2015.
