"No Man's Sky" is nowhere near being one of the greatest open-world space exploration game released and truth to be told, there were tons of broken promises to boot with. However, Hello Games have pushed out the Foundation update last year and now, a yet to be announced expansion. Should the company be free of owing the consumers free updates or would be justice to charge players now?
A lot of people would certainly disagree with the idea of having a paid DLC for "No Man' Sky," especially with only one major update released last year and the gap between it and what seems to be creeping out online right now. The good news is, based from Power Up Gaming, the update might just be on the horizon, waiting for a formal announcement from Hello Games.
While there are several "potential" additions to be featured with the unnamed expansion as datamining folks have discovered, a lingering question still creeps in every corner of the internet and the supposedly "fanbase" of the game; Should the DLC/Expansion be a free or a paid content?
Before, it would surprise people that if Hello Games or just about anybody talks about the idea of a paid DLC. This is justifiable at that point as the game wasn't really able to live up to its promises. However, things have changed and while not exactly fortunate with "No Man's Sky," most of the players left are those that actually like the game for what it is now and not what it was promised to be.
Forbes' Paul Tassi and his opinion about "No Man's Sky" might be subjective, but it does make sense wanting Hello Games to dish out a paid DLC without having the feeling of guilt for charging. Sure, a lot of features were cut, but honestly, looking at what the game is right now, one can't really deny that it is good as it is without Multiplayer or even the rotating planets.
Another thing to look at to is the fact that despite these shortcomings, there are still players playing supporting the game. A paid DLC is a fair way of helping Hello Games continuously significantly improve the game to suit everybody's tastes including those who ditched it for not meeting their "expectations." Free stuff is ALWAYS a good thing, however, this is subjective. "No Man's Sky," its former players and current fans would definitely benefit from a paid DLC in the long shot and perhaps, would even help the game become what everybody pictured it to be in the first place.
