Ryan Lanza Named as Suspected Shooter in Columbine Type Shooting in Newtown, Connecticut

Ryan Lanza has been identified as the man responsible for killing 27 people, including 18 children in a Columbine type shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

CNN has named Lanza as the killer. The man in his 20's has ties to the school. He was wearing a military vest and armed with several weapons including a .223-caliber rifle and a Sig Sauer. He fired hundreds of rounds in a concentrated area of the school.

Lanza's brother was found dead in Hoboken, New Jersey, CNN reports.

The New York Times says the shooter walked into the classroom where his mother, Nancy Lanza, was a kindergarden teacher. He then killed her and 18 students in the classroom. He then killed himself in the school.

This was one of the worst shootings in United States history.

Thousands are taking to Facebook to search for the profile of Lanza.One profile that showed up seemed to match the description of the Lanza involved in the story as he grew up in Newtown, Connecticut and lives in New Jersey. His profile said he attended Quinnipiac University.

Over 10,000 people shared his profile picture which shows him wearing a black hat and coat and sunglasses. However screenshots circulating around the internet show that this Lanza claims to be alive and is not the shooter involved in the shooting. It may be a coincidence that this Lanza grew up in Newtown.

The profile for this Ryan Lanza has since been deleted.
