50-Foot Duck Brings Laughs to London as It Floats Down River Thames [VIDEO]

The River Thames looked more like bath tub on Tuesday as a giant 50-foot duck was seen floating through London.

Londoners had a good laugh as they watched the giant yellow rubber duck float by and that was its exact purpose.

The duck was part of a publicity stunt by Jackpotjoy.com. The top UK gambling website sent the duck through the river on a barge to promote its new FUNdation, which "grants FUNds for daft ideas!," the website says.

The FUNdation "grants funds and rewards for daft ideas to make the UK laugh more and enjoy some fun."

What better way to make people laugh than to have a giant duck with red lips float through the River Thames? Londoners especially got a kick out of the Tower Bridge's drawbridge raising to let the duck through.

"2012 really has been the year of the River Thames with the Jubilee Pageant, the floating Olympic rings and David Beckham jetting into the ceremony via speedboat," British actress Barbara Windsor, a FUNdation spokesperson, said, according to the Daily Mail. "We decided to round off the year with the giant duck and it certainly cheered everyone up ... no-one could suppress a smile as they saw it sailing past."

Hundreds of people took to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook to post photos of the duck and to discuss the shocking sight.

The duck weighed half a ton and took 800 hours to piece together.

The Jackpotjoy FUNdation is looking for more great ideas. People can submit ideas on the FUNdation's Facebook page. They can either receive FUNding for their idea or a reward for actually performing it.

"We want to make sure we get the laughter quota back where it belongs and are hoping the FUNdation will help people have some daft fun," Michael Saunders, managing director of Jackpotjoy.com told the Daily Mail. "If you want to organise the biggest ever street conga, or jump into a pool of jelly, let us know."
