‘The Divergent’ Series: Planned Television Release Unsure As Theo James Partner Shailene Woodley Rejects To Reprise Role

Shailene Woodley and Theo James are the lead stars of "The Divergent" movie which was not released for fear of a flop. The preceding movie, "The Divergent: Allegiant" performed poorly in the box office, the producers had doubts releasing it. They opted to make it into a TV movie.

The actress-activist shared her decision not the reprise her role during the red carpet premiere of her new show about friendship "Big Little Lies." She joined Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in the cast. Woodley said that she will not be on the television show. Summer Entertainment's plan for "The Divergent: Ascendant" is not yet known.

Design and Trend gave four possible reasons why the movie's popularity plummeted. First reason is that the on-screen chemistry of Theo James and Shailene Woddley has waned. Despite the pair being rumored to be having a relationship, their chemistry has never worked for the audience.

Second is that the persistent dating rumors about the pair have probably turned the viewers off. It was clearly seen that the pair's publicity did not work because Woodley has Nahko Bear and James has Ruth Kearney.

Third, the poor box office performance was the primary reason. Fourth, the viewers have grown tired of the genre.
