It looks like there's a possibility that the Chicago Bulls All-Star Jimmy Butler won't suit for the NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. This is because of the heel injury he suffered in a win against the Oklahoma City Thunder last February 1, which doesn't appear to be improving.
According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, Butler felt good enough last Thursday to practice after he already missed three games due to the injury. The decision to practice, though, wasn't a good one as the All-Star aggravated the injury.
The report adds that Butler was able to gut it out in the team's loss against the Phoenix Suns last Feb 11, but the pain in the heal didn't subside after the game. Now the Bulls would need to make a decision to shut down Butler for a week to help the injury heal.
This would mean sitting out games against the Toronto Raptors and the Boston Celtics ahead of the All-Star game, the report said. As for the All-Star game, Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg said that advising Butler to sit out the festivities has not come up yet.
"It's really a day-to-day situation with the heel,'' Hoiberg said. "Jimmy knows his body pretty well. He's comfortable that if he sits these next two days, he'll feel significantly better.''
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Butler, who is a starter for the Eastern Conference lineup, wants to play. But he also adds that he has to think about his "body and what's going on."
"Like I said, if I can suit up I feel like I have to do that," the All-Star guard said. Butler has been frustrated about his heel injury, according to a report from ESPN.
The Bulls' forward said that he wants to compete. He wants to win and lose with his team. Aside from the heel, the report adds that Butler also suffered another ailment in their game against the Suns when guard Eric Bledsoe fell into Butler's right knee after being fouled.
Butler, though, said the injury is not major, saying that it's just added to the things wrong with his body. Check out the highlights of Jimmy Butler for the 2016-2017 season in the video below.
