"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 episode 12 shows how hard it is to become human - at least for Stefan. Fans of TVD agree that the episode titled "What Are You?" is so much like the old school TVD, and they love it.
"What Are You?" is the first episode where Stefan is human. He hated the fact that he is a vampire, and even told Elena previously, "It hurts me, knowing what I've done, and that pain, that pain is with me all the time," Entertainment Weekly said. Now, he finally gets the chance to leave all that behind, but it turns out, being immortal is definitely not as easy as it looks.
Damon reacted to the news that Stefan is now a human by drinking at home, but then, the devil pays him a visit. Now that Stefan is human, the deal the Salvatore brothers made with Cade has been voided, because the latter required two immortal souls. But knowing Cade, he won't stop until he gets the Maxwell journal.
Matt used his connections to the past to figure out the journal's secrets. In 1970, Ethan Maxwell created a magical bell that would rid the soon-to-be town of Mystic Falls of a supernatural threat, and Beatrice Bennett helped him. But Sybil and Seline arrive. Ethan was able to add the running fork to the bell, so that it will bring hellfire and Cade to Earth. Ethan can't tell anyone but wrote about the code in the journal.
Ethan has another big secret that he can't say, but can write in his journal - and it's a way to destroy Cade. Once Damon hands the journal to Cade, he burns it. Alaric is not happy that Damon let go of their shot to save Stefan from the devil, but there is still hope. During Damon's time with Sybil, he overheard her talking about a way to kill Cade. A weapon made of glass from the fire that created hell just happens to be in the artifact room.
E! News said that "The Vampire Diaries" has officially wrapped up filming forever. But there are still a few more episodes left so fans should expect that killing the devil can't be that simple yet. "The Vampire Diaries" returns next week.
