Singer Jenni Rivera is dead at the age of 43. The Mexican-American singer died in a plane crash shortly after it took off on Sunday.
A small plane crashed in Nuevo Leon state on Sunday and there were no survivors out of the seven people on board, according to CNN. After finding Rivera's drivers license, authorities have confirmed that she was one of the casualties on board.
The Learjet took off from Monterrey, Mexico at around 3:15 a.m. after Rivera performed there. Shortly after, the plane lost contact with air traffic controllers. The plane was scheduled to land in Toluca, outside of Mexico City, but it never made it.
Rivera's family and fans are devastated over the loss.
"We are feeling devastated. It's a devastation to the family," the 43-year-old's brother, Pedro Rivera Jr., told E! News.
He recalled the moment that he found out about his sister's death.
"We were having a beautiful morning, and then we received the news from my brother [Gustavo]. 'Go see mom because we can't find Jenni's plane, we don't know what's happened to her," Pedro said, according to PEOPLE.
"That's when it started, really early at 9 in the morning. I came to my mom's house. We started getting the news. Then at around 5 p.m., we got confirmation that she was gone. It was so painful," he continued.
Those is the Hispanic community took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the beloved singer.
"This is sad. I'm a bit in shock. Much peace to her family," said Ricky Martin.
"Spent some time with Jenni Rivera recently. What an amazing lady... Cool, smart, funny & talented. Such a travesty... God Bless her family," said Mario Lopez.
"My heart breaks for the loss of Jenni Rivera & everyone on the plane. My prayers go out to her family. We lost a legend today," said Eva Longoria.
Rivera, from Long Beach, Calif., was also known as the Diva of Banda. She sold over 20 million albums in her career and was nominated for several Grammy's. She recently won two Billboard awards.
"The world rarely sees someone who has had such a profound impact on so many," Universal Music Group said in a statement. "From her incredibly versatile talent to the way she embraced her fans around the world, Jenni was simply incomparable. "
She had five children and was divorced three times. She also starred on her own reality show called I Love Jenni on Telemundo's mun2. The show documented her life and also featured her publicist, laywer and makeup artist who were the other passengers on the plane that crashed.
She was set to star in another show called Jenni, on ABC.
It will take investigators to collect evidence from the crash, which was spread around an area of 320 yards. It is not clear what caused the crash at this time.
