Cathay Pacific Flight Attendant Leaves Job After Threatening Former Thai Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra's Daughter

A flight attendant for Cathay Pacific left her job after a Facebook post she added saying she wanted to throw coffee at an exiled former prime minster of Thailand's daughter.

The Daily Mail reported that the flight attendants Facebook name is Honey Lochanachai. She made comments on her Facebook about Thaksin Shinawatra's daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra. Thaksin Shinawatra was prime minister of Thailand from 2001 to 2006 until he was overthrown in a military coup. He has been lliving abroad since he was overthrown in order to avoid jail for corruption.

Agence France-Press reported that the flight attendant made comments about Paetongtarn Shinawatra and called her "the daughter of my enemy," on Facbeook. Paetongtarn was on a business class flight on Nov. 25 going from Bangkok to Hong Kong when the flight attendant saw her on the flight.

Time Magazine reported that she wrote on her Facebook page that "I immediately told my flight manager that I could not work knowing that the daughter of my enemy was on board. I also called my personal advisor asking if it would be all right to throw coffee at [her], but was told that this could breach Hong Kong's law."

The Daily Mail said she added, hen she wrote: 'Paetongtarn, I didn't throw coffee in her face today but she had no clue that I will keep on fighting until your clan can no longer live like fleas on the Thai soil."

A statement by the airline said that the woman was no longer an employee of Cathay Pacific but it did not specify whether she quit or whether she was fired.

Thaksin Shinawatra's sister Yingluck Shinawatra is currently prime minister. Paetongtarn is one three of his children. The airline said according to the BBC that it regretted the "unfortunate incident," and they planned to apologize personally to Paentongtarn.

The AFP reported that Paetongtarn said that the event made her feel "uncomfortable." AFP also reported that there was a small protest in support of Paetongtarn outside of Cathay Pacific's office on Monday.
