Breaking up is tough no matter what and after al Brooklyn-based couple decided to end their five year relationship, they decided to break the news to their friends via a YouTube music video.
The video which was posted on Wednesday went viral on the web. The video was done by 30-year-old Jonathan Mann, who is a professional singer/songwriter and his girlfriend Ivory King, 31. Mann said to the New York Daily News, "I want kids and she doesn't."
From the video it seems, the couple's decline occurred because Mann wants children some day and King does not. Mann said to The New York Daily News, "I didn't want to make a post on Facebook and have that be it. And I didn't want to have to explain it over and over to people, because that can be really painful.
"And I hoped it would feel cathartic to make this together, as sort of our final act." He added to The New York Daily News that he thought this video would be the easiest way to break the news to friends.
"When it comes down to it, there's no way to feel anything but sad in a situation like ours," Mann said.
Some notable lyrics to their friends include:
"And breaking up's a mess
So please be there for us
You don't have to choose
Though it'll be awkward, yes
Invite us to your parties
We will work it out
Don't feel weird
We love all of you
After 5 whole years
By each other's side
There are just some things
No relationship can survive"
"We've been together for so long that we have so many mutual friends, and it was a big thing to sort of split that up," Mann said to the New York Daily News. "But people are being super supportive. They're happy that we made this and that it's amicable between us."
