The Maddie Aldridge ATV accident was partly her mother Jamie Lynn Spears' mistake. She should have read the warning label on the ATV upon purchasing it or having her daughter drive it alone.
The manufacturer warned, "Never allow a child under age 10 to operate or ride as a passenger in this vehicle as reported by Hollywood Life. Children differ in skills, physical abilities, and judgment. Please supervise the use of the vehicle at all times. Permit the continued use only if you determine that your child has the ability and maturity to operate safely."
The Polaris-owned ATV, an RZR 170 has the above warning but was given as a birthday gift to the 8-year-old. Spears should have ridden with her daughter knowing (if she had read the warning) that she is not eligible to drive the all-terrain-vehicle.
Spears and her partner were watching the girl as she manipulates the vehicle but it flipped over into a pond. She stayed on the water for minutes. Beyonce's sister failed to retrieve her from the water because of her seatbelt and safety net.
Maddie Aldridge was brought to a hospital in Louisiana where she was in a critical condition. Her aunt Britney Spears appealed to her millions of fans to pray for her. She then went home to be with her sister Jamie Lynn Spears to support her.
Two days after the near-drowning incident, the young girl regained consciousness and is now talking according to the AOL News. Her ventilator was already removed after she woke up. Her father, mother, and stepfather were at her side when she woke up. She can recognize and talk with her family.
Will Maddie Aldridge ride the ATV again? She has to wait till she is a teenager, that is if she was not traumatized of the incident.
