David Beckham and family will be attempting to repair the damaged Beckham brand brought about by the email controversy that's facing David. A number of David's emails were leaked and the leak shows David being furious for being denied of knighthood, which was due to his tax affairs.
According to Emma Brankin of The Sun, David and the children will be in New York to join his wife Victoria for the catwalk show on Sunday. Insiders are saying that David and Victoria are hoping their show of unity would divert some of the attention away from the controversy.
"They want to show unity to prove that as a family they are sticking together and stronger than ever," a source said. "Victoria is in New York already but everyone will fly over this weekend and be sitting picture perfect in the front row for Sunday's big morning catwalk show."
The source also told Brankin that the couple felt that David's absence in the catwalk show would be "even more distracting." David is being criticized for being angry at the honors committee for denying him of knighthood in 2013.
Brankin said that the leaked emails between the celebrity and his PR firm showed how much the ex-footballer lobbied for the knighthood. David even used his charity work to try and secure it.
But the reason why David wasn't given knighthood was due to his personal tax affairs, according to a report from the Mirror. Sources said that HM Revenue and Customs told Whitehall committee about David's "red flag" due to his 2013 tax affairs.
The report said that David had previously invested in the Ingenious Media investment scheme, which was used other wealthy stars to "channel funds into tax-efficient arts projects." The source from the honors said that no law was violated, but the warning was already sufficient for David to miss out the knighthood that time.
