All is well between "The Vampire Diaries" co-stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder and "Twilight" alum Nikki Reed. In a photo posted on Instagram, Somerhalder provided a lengthy caption to address the rumors which may have put a strain on Reed and Dobrev. He blamed how "low-brow" sites, in desperation for traffic, have pitted the two women and stirred up issues where there is actually none.
The "TVD" star wrote, "Chilling with these two... After years of websites pretending these two badass ladies knew each other well and baseless, false information of back stabbing and hatred from low-brow websites filled the minds and hearts of fans... They finally were able to get together for their first real dinner."
He went on and encouraged the fans to stop the hate for "there's already too much of that right now in our world. Join in on the love. Only love here- always has been always will be. Media companies preying on the passion from vulnerable and or impressionable minds of fans to sell advertising through click-though traffic is a disease in our society. It's poisonous. Let's finish this series with respect and kindness and continue that in our lives. I think it's time. What do think?"
Dobrev and Somerhalder broke up in 2013, and the "TVD" hunk has since moved one with Reed. In 2015, the couple tied the knot at the Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles, California. With the wedding being too soon and Dobrev's decision to leave "TVD," fans and websites were quick to speculate that her decision was due to the fact that still being on the show makes it "too awkward."
In a statement from E! News in 2015, Dobrev maintained, "I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship. I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."
In an exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter, Dobrev expressed her desire to pursue other things. She told THR's Marisa Roffman, "It's been a great journey, but at the end of the day, I'm not actually a vampire. The fairy tale has to end, and the next chapter has to begin. I knew this was my time, and I'm excited for the next step."
Meanwhile, Reed and Dobrev simultaneously posted photos in their respective Instagram accounts. (Click here and here.) Dobrev is set to return on the final season of "The Vampire Diaries" as Elena Gilbert. It airs on March 10 at 8:00 p.m. on The CW.
