The latest iPhone travel app, SPUN is interactive and uses a 3D display. NBC News reported that the app shows you popular things to do in the 11 biggest cities in the country as well as destination maps and reminders of places you have marked that you want to see.
NBC News reported, "SPUN's navigation is built around a spinning prism. One facet holds "top stories," while the other three contain stories by topic, including Arts & Entertainment, Food & Drink and Lifestyle, a catch-all for other interesting things to see around town. In San Francisco, you can find the best free Wi-Fi hotspots in Hayes Valley, or catch a polar bear frolicking in man-made snow at the San Francisco Zoo. News is updated regularly, so you'll never run out of things to do."
Currently, Spun has information about the following locations: New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Boston, Chicago, San Fracisco, Portland, Austin, Seattle and Miaimi.
The Brooklyn-based startup's app makes it easy for travelers as they don't have to filter through a number of different websites. It' employes hundres of media sources, reported PR Web.
"There's a ton of great stories being told about cities like New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, but people can't keep track of them all," said SPUN CEO Andy Hunter to PRWeb. "We curate the best, most popular content, and present it in a fun and interactive way. SPUN is the easiest way to keep your finger on the pulse of your city."
Cofounder Scott Lindenbaum said to PRWeb, "SPUN creates an ability shift: it makes content discovery easier for people who need to have the absolute best stuff about their city or a city they're visiting. The app is simple, beautiful, and over time it will be customized for each user's tastes and location."
Hunter said to PRWeb that SPUN is more like local news and like a friend it can "tell you when you're near a restaurant you want to check out or remind you when a concert is about to start."
