Kate Middleton is pregnant! The palace has officially confirmed that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a child.
Rumors are Middleton's pregnancy have been swirling around for months, ever since she married Prince William in a lavish royal wedding on April 29, 2011. This time, it's real.
"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby," read the statement released by the Palace on Monday, according to PEOPLE. "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.
She may be royalty, but the doesn't exempt her from feeling the effects of pregnancy. According to the statement, her morning sickness is "acute."
"The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum," the statement continued. "As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter."
It is not clear if the royal baby to be is a girl or a boy as the pregnancy is still in early stages and no due date was announced.
No matter what is is, the child will be an heir to the British throne. It will also be the queen's third great grandchild.
It is no secret that the couple wanted to get started on a family. "I'm just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I are looking forward to having a family in the future,"Prince William said in an interview with ABC News' Katie Couric in May 2012.
