Norweigan Cruise Lines will serve New York Hot dogs on one of its cruise ships. USA Today reported that the popular cruise liner will start serving Sabrett hot dogs, complimentary to guests, on its Norweigan Breakaway Cruise ship. Sabrett is the same brand of hot dog used across New York City streets by its iconic hot dog carts.
Norweigan has ordered three carts to serve on the ship, whose home port, is fittingly, New York. The new partnership will start in May. With the hotdog comes traditional toppings from Sabrett including onion in tomato sauce, mustard, relish, ketchup and sauerkraut.
Senior vice president of Sabrett, Mark Rosen said to Travel Weekly, "We're so excited to offer our hot dogs on board Norwegian Breakaway."
The carts will be featured on the Breakaway's promenade which is called The Waterfront as well as on the forward and pool decks.
CEO of Norweigan, Kevin Sheehan said to USA Today,
"As a New Yorker, I've been a fan of Sabrett's. Since we are launching New York's ship, it made complete sense to bring New York's favorite hot dog to Norwegian Breakaway."
Sheehan also told USA Today that the ship will serve Brooklyn Brewery's popular Brooklyn Lager to compliment the hot dogs, adding another ode to New York.
"Our guests will truly get a real taste of the city as a part of their whole New York experience while onboard," Sheehan said to Travel Weekly.
In In an entire New York themed experience, Norweigan also added restaurants on board from New York chef, Geoffrey Zakarian. USA Today reported that the Food Network Star chef opened seafood restaurants on board. The ship will also feature an ice bar that has New York City themed ice sculptures.
