With the popularity of Apocalyptic movies and TV shows such as "2012" and "The Walking Dead", the idea of gearing up for that kind of possibility is appealing to some people. And as such, the idea of purchasing and investing in a bunker is kind of a good idea.
While some people's idea of getting ready for an Apocalypse is storing up food and building their own makeshift bunkers and safe houses, those who got extra millions of cash can actually purchase a luxury bunker.
Designed to withstand any form of apocalyptic activity from zombies to nuclear attacks, Survival Condos are luxury bunkers designed not just for safety, but to also live like you're in a 5-star hotel. Larry Hall developed this complex from an Atlas Missile Silo, originally built during the cold war in the 1960's by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is located near Concordia, Kansas.
"We believe that given the present worldwide economic conditions, historical disaster evidence, and the obvious signs of global climate changes; that it is prudent to have a 'disaster plan and shelter' in place should a need for it occur," said in a quote on their website. "Our designs include planning for: physical protection, psychological design considerations, advanced technology, and the concept of an extended family with diverse backgrounds."
Customers have the choice to buy bunker units ranging from $1.5 million to $4.5 million. Some of the luxury features this bunker complex has include an underground golf range, state-of-the-art appliances, renewable sources of power, a rock climbing wall and an underground swimming pool with slides and waterfall. Each guest will also have a ration of food good for a 5-year supply.
Although the first complex is entirely sold out, guests can still snap up their own luxury bunkers in the second silo. Because of the hefty price tag, the market margin for the Survival Condos is only for the rich.
According to Larry Hall, "This project has the advantages of letting the members own a piece of history, the coolness of a missile base, the protection of a nuclear-hardened bunker, and the features of a luxury condo." So if you have some spare millions in your pocket, why not invest in a luxury bunker? So if the world will really experience a cataclysmic event, at least you'll have a peace of mind, and can do it in style.
