The Wii Mini is coming, but only to Canada. Best Buy Canada debuted the device in an advertisement. Nintendo had confirmed that the smaller game system will be coming to stores in Canada. The release date is set for December 7.
Nintendo just release the Wii U, but another version of the Wii is coming to Canada for the holiday season. According to the Best Buy ad, the Wii mini will arrive in stores on Dec.7. The new system has a sleek black and red design and will cost $99.99.
The new console will be smaller than the original Wii, which means it won't be able to do as much. For instance, it won't be able to connect to the Internet. This means there is no Wi-Fi and no online features in games. It also won'tplay most GameCube games.
The Wii mini package, which is $30 less than a regular Wii, includes a a tinier console, a sensor bar, a Nunchuk control and a Wii Remote Plus.
The Nintendo Wii mini will be available exclusively in Canada during the holidays but there is potential for it to be available more widespread later on.
"There are games in the Wii library for every type of player," Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada's vice president and general manager said in a release. "Wii Mini is a great gift for the holidays that brings everyone in the family together to play. Wii Mini has a mini price, but it's all about big fun."
The Wii mini is available for Pre-order on the Best Buy Canada website.
