It's official. A sequel show to the hit 90s teen sitcom, "Boy Meets World" is happening. This time, it will be called "Girl Meets World" and still feature the stars of "Boy Meets World," Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, reported Fox News.
Savage who played Cory Matthews and Fishel who played his love interest, Topanga will start in the show that will focus on their now, 13-year-old daughter, Riley Matthews. When the show ended in 2000 the couple were just married and on their way to New York City after they graduated college.
The Disney Channel confirmed to The Huffington Post that the show is in "very early stages of development" and they are still casting for Riley Matthews. The Disney Channel said to Fox, "The pilot is still in the very early stages of development with creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs, Emmy Award-winning creator/producer behind 'Boy Meets World,' 'My Two Dads' and 'Charles In Charge,' among others."
Fishel said on her Tumblr, "First of all, let me say that you, the fans of 'Boy Meets World,' have been awesome," she wrote. "You, yes, even YOU, are the reason that 'Girl Meets World' WILL BE MADE."
While, Savage said on Twitter, "I'm going to be a father! Well, on TV at least. The "Boy Meets World" sequel is officially happening!
It is still unknown who will be returning from the original cast to star in the sequel. Fishel said in her blog that she didn't even have the answer. She said,
"I do not know how many BMW cast members will be returning for GMW, or how often they may appear if and/or when they do appear ... It will have familiar faces, familiar themes, and familiar messages. It will also have new faces, new themes, and new messages," she wrote. "For those of you who knew and loved BMW, please allow this show to evolve as well. Stick with us. Give us a chance."
