There's a new trend hitting the internet--milking. Photos and videos of people pouring milk on their head are popping up on social media sites and some are wondering why anyone would want to do that?
There is no good reason for anyone to pour milk on their head other than the fact that it is a growing trend and it is entertaining to those who watch it, and sometimes to those getting milked. Milking is the new planking.
Milking involves someone going to a public place and pouring a significant amount of milk on their head.
This trend has particularly grew in the UK among university students. One video of this new trend features student from Newcaslte University. The young people in the video dump half a gallon of milk on their heads in places like outside of supermarkets and trains, in front of busy restaurant windows, and in the middle of busy shopping centers.
The video has gone viral and has been viewed over 230,000 times ever since it was posted on Nov. 21.
Students from other universities in Edinburgh, Nottingham and Oxford also got into the craze and posted videos.
When asked why they would do this, most of the students said it's for entertainment and it's funny.
"It started off as a bit of a dare really, just us messing about in the kitchen,' Northumbria University student George Hoyland said, according to Metro UK. "We found it so funny that we decided to make more videos."
"We know it's ridiculous, everyone is saying that and we completely accept that," fellow 'milker' Tom Symington said. "It's a bit of enjoyment, it's making people laugh and I think the positive reaction outweighs the negative."
While those doing the milking seem to have fun with the trend, those watching it don't find it so humorous. Many of the comments. Many call it "dumb," and "stupid" and many are angry over the fact that these young people are wasting completely good milk.
This milking trend follows last year's trend of planking in which people would lie face down in odd places and would then post a picture of it online.
