Those in London got quite the shock when a naked man caused a standoff with police for three hours as he sat on a large equestrian statue in the Whitehall government district. The naked man struck several poses on top of the statue for over several hours until police were able to coax him down.
The man caused quite the scene as he posed on the statue of Prince George, the 19th-century Duke of Cambridge. The man, who police believe is in his 30s or 40s, climbed onto the large bronze statue around noon. He climbed all over the statue and even perched himself on top of the duke's head.
Emergency vehicles shut down the area in Whitehall, where several government buildings including the prime minister's official residence is located. Large crowds of people had gathered at the scene to watch the naked man's antics.
Police were eventually able to convince the man to come down from the statue and he was detained under Britain's Mental Health Act.
