Rihanna's new album may be called "Unapologetic," but she wound up apologizing to many people on her 777 Tour.
Bringing a plane full of journalists and fans along on her 777 tour may have sounded like a good idea, but it Rihanna wound up disappointing many of the passengers as she hardly showed her face on board. The plane ride turned out to be pretty chaotic as journalists were angered since they couldn't get any photos or quotes from the "Diamonds" singer. To keep themselves entertained, they would chant her name and one Australian journalist even went streaking through the aisles.
Rihanna's 777 Tour included seven performance in seven cities in seven days. Along with the media and her fans, she hopped on a plane to Mexico City, Toronto, Stockholm, Berlin, Paris, London and New York City to put on a show and promote her new album. She got the plane passengers excited by popping champagne and celebrating on the first day, but that was one of the only appearances she made on board throughout the entire trip.
Now Rihanna has apologized for going MIA, saying that she needed to sleep and to stay healthy. According to US Weekly, Rihanna addressed all of the passengers at the end of the tour, saying
"Guess what, we made it! This has been an experience the I will never ever forget. I barely slept. My sleeping was all done on this plane," explained the superstar, who kicked off the tour, heading toward Mexico City, in high spirits, pouring champagne for everyone. "I want to thank everyone for making this trip the sh--. I want to see the naked Australian!"
"I know you guys got barely any dirt," she told the disappointed journalists. "But I had to be good. I still sound like sh--. It's impossible to spend time with everybody, and I'm sorry I didn't. But this was excellent and I would definitely do it again."
"I would do this next time with more people, more cities and sit back the the fans more. . . I had to preserve my health. Normally, I'd be back here popping bottles with y'all . . . I had to preserve my voice. I was worried about my body more than partying on the plane, so I had to just sleep whenever I could. I hope you guys had as much fun as I did."
Not only did Rihanna have to apologize to her passengers, she also had to pay up. The singer was late arriving to and leaving from every city on the tour. Due to late takeoffs, she has to pay over $300,000 in fines.
