Would you believe that the famous Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran were once tagged as the unpopular kids in school? Ed Sheeran shares with British GQ that "unpopularity" is what fueled him up on his hike to success. Further, he quipped that it's the same motivation that drives the "Teardrops On My Guitar" singer to get on top of the music charts. While British Grammy-award crooner Ed Sheeran was said not to hit it off in terms of popularity back in the days, his album "Divide" proved otherwise. He's getting all the attention right now - and it's about time.
As Sheeran shares with Time, "There's an underdog element to it. Taylor [Swift] was never the popular kid in school. I was never the popular kid in school. Then you get to the point when you become the most popular kid in school - and we both take it a bit too far."
"She wants to be the biggest female artist in the world and I want to be the biggest male artist in the world," Sheeran says.
The BFF's are known to be very passionate and ambitious with their craft. This is said to have sparked from being told incessantly that you can't do it, and the challenge of proving them wrong. Some people shy away from competition, while some actually feeds on it and thrives on such challenges. The high-strung crooner considers Adele to be his closest competition so knowing how competitive Sheeran can be, Adele should definitely watch out. This British singer isn't so famous for backing down on anything or anyone for that matter.
Sheeran is part of the all-too-famous Taylor Squad. In fact, the "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" singer and songwriter supports Sheeran in his songs. The two bond in competitiveness, share the same spirit and vibe - sealed their success in the music scene. Check out their collaboration music video "Everything Has Changed" featuring Ed Sheeran:
