The Pokemon Company had always intended to make "Pokemon GO" safe for everyone playing the game. The company is looking to partner with Nintendo to come up with a safer device.
In an interview with Nikkei, Pokemon Company President Tsunekazu Ishihara said that when they started in the process of developing "Pokemon GO," safety was already a concern. Ishihara said that they intended the game to be played outdoors instead of at home.
"The potential that players could become too involved in playing the game [that they might walk into danger] was already an issue at an early stage," he said. Ishihara adds that "Pokemon Go Plus" was developed to address this issue.
The Plus is a "smartphone-linked wearable device that allows players not to have to look at their smartphone screens all the time. Game Spot reported that the Plus was delayed in its launch, only coming out in September, after the release of the base game, instead of July.
The report adds that the device was sold out, even while it's still in its pre-sales phase. Nintendo apologized for the shortage, and promised to produce more "Pokemon Go Plus." The device started appearing on eBay for up to $200 a piece.
Ishihara, though, is not yet done in trying to come up with ways to make playing "Pokemon GO" safer for everyone. He said in the interview that they are looking to partner with Nintendo to come up with a new device that will be safer for people to play.
No details about the kind of device that they're looking to develop have been provided, though. More information about this development will be provided once updates start coming in.
