Travel can be used as a way to help those who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. Various hotels around the country are helping out the Hurricane Sandy cause by donating money to relief efforts and are allowing travelers to donate their hotel rewards to the Red Cross.
Certain hotels are helping out Hurricane Sandy survivors in their own way. Many hotels are allowing their loyalty program embers to donate their rewards point to the Red Cross so that they can be used to provide shelter for displaced hurricane survivors or Red Cross relief workers.

Drury Gold Key Club Members can donate their Club points to the American Red Cross to be used towards hotel stays for victims and relief workers. Call 1-800-325-0581 or go to druryhotels.com and make an online donation.
Hilton HHonors Giving Back Program - Hilton Worldwide, Inc.
Hilton HHonors members can donate their HHonors points to the American Red Cross. To donate, email to HHonors_Giving_Back@hilton.com containing the number of points you'd like donated (must be in increments of 10,000 points) and include your name, address, and Hilton HHonors account number, and the Red Cross Reward Code (RCNDRF). You will receive an email to confirm your request. Others can visit HiltonFamily.com to donate.
Marriott Rewards - Marriott International, Inc.
Rewards Members can donate their point to the Red Cross through Marriott's Charitable Donation program at Marriott.com.
Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) members - Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide
Starwood Preferred Guests can also donate their Starpoints to the Red Cross. SPG will match your Starpoints donation for a limited time. Visit spg.com to donate.

Charles Hotel in Cambridge
The Charles Hotel is running a special promotion on stays during Thanksgiving week from Sunday, Nov. 18 - Monday, Nov. 26. They have rooms for $199 a night or $219 a night with parking and $5 from every night and room booked goes towards Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts.
XV Beacon Hotel in Boston
The XV Beacon will donate 10 percent of every room rate during Thanksgiving week to AmeriCars for Hurricane Sandy families. Call 617-670-7777 for details.
Kimpton Properties The Muse and 70 Park Avenue in New York
Those who book a stay at the Muse or 70 Park Avenue through Nov. 30, will be making a $10 donation to the Red Cross from each reservation booked. Use the rate code REDC when booking a room at one of these properties.
White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine
The White Barn Inn will donate $10 per person to the Red Cross who books a Holiday Workshop Package. Holiday Package rates start at $760 for two people including overnight accommodation and breakfast, $560 for a single overnight stay and a day rate of $200.
