'Wolves' Michael Shannon has never been out of projects. The recently nominated Best Supporting Actor for the 89th Academy Awards has a full 2016. His film, Tom Ford's "Nocturnal Animals" earned him the nomination. His projects done last year include "Midnight Special," "Loving," and the biological drama "Elvis & Nixon." Last year, he did "Wolves" which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival opposite Carla Gugino as reported by Indie Wire. It was scheduled for release in selected theaters on March 3, 2017.

The movie tells about an 18-year-old basketeer Anthony Keller (played by Taylor John Smith) who is recruited by Cornell University because of his skill in basketball. However, his domestic life is not that smooth as his father (played by Shannon) is a gambling addict. His father is his number one bully and the promoter of his lack of confidence. Since he only has his mother to support him, his future looks bleak.

His Uncle Charlie played by Bauer and Socrates (John Douglas Thompson) are his moral supporters as per Variety. His girlfriend (Zazie Beetz) caused him a problem when she got pregnant. The movie is a basketball spectacle as some of the actors in the movie literally play basketball in real life.

The stellar cast is composed of Zazie Beetz ("Applesauce"), Chris Bauer ("Tomorrowland"), Jake Choi ("Hypebeasts"), and Jessica Rothe ("La La Land") and many others. Bart Freundlich ("The Myth of Fingerprints") wrote the story and he also directs the movie. It was produced by Tim Perell and Erica Steinberg.

'Wolves' Michael Shannon will be starring in two new films, "The Shape of Water" and "The Current War" both to be released this year. "The Current War" is an Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's life drama. Watch the trailer below.
