It's the news that every fan of the show has been waiting to hear. Nina Dobrev is returning as Elena Gilbert in the series finale of the much-loved series "The Vampire Diaries."
The series has enjoyed an 8-season run and will air its last episode on March 10. Ever since the announcement that season 8 will be its last season, fans of the show have been clamoring for the return of Nina Dobrev, who left the show after season 6. But what's good about her leaving was that her character, Elena Gilbert, was put asleep in a coffin for the next 60 years instead of dying. This allows a storyline when she can come back.
And back she will be as Nina Dobrev herself has confirmed her return to "The Vampire Diaries." E! News reports that Dobrev made the announcement on her Instagram page by posting a photo of none other than the finale script. The series finale has the title "I Was Feeling Epic," and will be directed by Julie Plec. Plec and "TVD" co-creator Kevin Williamson apparently wrote the episode that will end the series.
Nina Dobrev became a household name since starring in the series. After she left, she has kept herself busy with other projects. She will join Vin Diesel in "XXX: Return of Xander Cage," and has guested on "Lip Sync Battle" and "Project Runway."
While Dobrev's return is confirmed, it is not known how it will affect the lives of everyone she left behind in Mystic Falls. As Bonnie is still alive, some are wondering if her return will mean Bonnie will die in the series finale. Buddy TV reports that one of the biggest questions is who between the Salvatore brothers will Elena end up with. Who do you think should Elena be with? Stefan or Damon?
