Shania Twain's horseback arrival in Las Vegas showed her fans that you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl. The stunt involving over 40 horses was to announce her two-year headlining show at Caesar's Palace.
The spectacle was called a stampede, but the 40 horses, lead by nine wranglers, made a cool and collected arrival in front of a crowd of several hundred people waiting outside Caesars' fountains. Those on the streets might not have been too happy with the horse herd as the scene stopped and diverted traffic for about 30 minutes, but locals should know to expect the unexpected in Sin City.
"We could either lose a few hundred dollars inside or come out and see what kind of spectacle she puts on," Steve Huffman, a UPS manager from Charleston, W.Va., who watched with his wife told the Associated Press.
The song "Still the One" was blasted on speakers are Twain stopped on the red carpet, before stepping down onto a stage near the fountains.
She then announced her two-year gig at Caesars called "Shania Twain: Still the One." The impressive arrival was just a teaser to the main event, which fans will have to wait a little while for, as it opens on Dec. 1.
"After many years of not seeing each other on the live stage, I look forward to that reunion!" Twain announced to the crowd.
The show will take place at Caesar Palace's 4,300-seat Colosseum, where Celine Dion, Elton John, Jerry Seinfeld and others have performed.
The show is expected to be a success as Twain, 47, has had much success throughout her career. As one of the best-selling female country artists of all time, she sold over 75 million albums across the world. She also won five Grammy awards and was able to cross over to the world of pop music.
She took a long hiatus from music after a divorce from producer husband Robert "Mutt" Lange. She then remarried in 2011 and had a brief musician's block, which was shown in an Oprah documentary called "Why Not? Shania Twain." After releasing a new single, "Today is Your Day," Twain is ready to make a comeback with this thrilling Vegas show and she has plans to release a new album.
