A woman in Cleveland, Ohio was caught on camera driving on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus that was full of children. Now, 32-year-old Shena Hardin has been ordered to stand on the sidewalk, where she avoided the school bus unloading children, and hold up a sign warning onlookers about idiots who drive over the sidewalk, reports The Huffington Post.
In a display of public humiliation and public discipline, the sign says, "Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus." The Huffington Post reported that a judge has ordered her to hold the sign up on a street corner from 7:45 to 8:45 on two days. She was also ordered to pay $250 in court costs and had her license suspended for 30 days.
The Toronto Star quoted Lisa Kelley, whose daughter was on the bus which she avoided by driving on the sidewalk said, "She's an idiot, just like the her sign says."
"She did this almost every day last year. She won't stop laughing. She's not remorseful, she laughed at every court appearance. She's still laughing, so she needs to be humiliated like this," added Kelly to The Toronto Star.
Another man, Bill Lipold, yelled at the woman according to The Toronto Star, "Why do you hate kids." He added, "How else are you going to stop her from doing it again? She really didn't show remorse for her action after being caught, so you've got to try something."
The area which she did her dangerous driving is located within two blocks of two schools and is a busy area of commuters. Hardin has yet comment on the incident, but she was there in the morning begrudgingly holding up the sign for many onlookers to see.
