Hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition to get Macy's to fire Donald Trump. The petition called, "Dump Trump" has been signed by more than 476,000 people online. The SignOn.org petition states, "Donald Trump does not reflect the "magic of Macy's." We urge you to sever ties with him. Macy's says it has a strong obligation to be "socially responsible" and that "actions speak louder than words." Indeed. It's time to act."
The petition wants Macy's who has major deals with Trump to stop selling his products including a clothing line and fragrance.
The petition calls Trump sexist, racist and hypocritical and mentions how he repeteadly argued that President Obama was not born in the U.S. they also quoted him saying after Hurricane Sandy that "The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."
USnews.com reported that Trump retaliated on his Twitter page on Tuesday and said, "My fragrance-"Success"-is flying off the shelves @Macys. The perfect Christmas gift!"
The petition also calls for Macy's to stop using his face in new advertisements which feature Trump with other icons like Taylor Switf, Martha Stewart and Justin Beiber as characters of the "Miracle on 34th Street."
The petition also wants Macy's to quit using Trump's face in nostalgic new advertisements for the department store, which feature Trump alongside Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Martha Stewart as characters in a new version of the "Miracle on 34th Street." Trump voices his doubt of Santa Claus in the ad, an apparent nod at the tycoon's long-standing skepticism of President Barack Obama's birth certificate.
The petition also talks of Macys social responsibility policy which they believe they are not living up to. It reads, "There is no shortage of talk about the obligation of public companies to be socially responsible to the people and communities where they do business. At Macy's, Inc., we hold those same beliefs - along with a belief that actions speak louder than words when it comes to helping tackle some of the toughest problems facing us today."
