TripAdvisor has recently named the top ten "Destinations on the Rise." For those that have never visited places like Kiev, Ukraine Trip Advisor names it, its number two three spot out of ten.
TripAdvisor's list includes the likes of lesser traveled places like Mar de Plata, Argentina, Montevideo, Uruguay and Perth, Australia. The travel website says of Kiev, its number three, "Filled with theaters, museums, religious sites, modern buildings and ancient ruins, the city of Kiev is the center of Ukrainian culture. The Monastery of the Caves, founded in 1015, and Saint Sophia Cathedral, founded in 1037, are both World Heritage Sites. The Museum of the Great Patriotic War, topped by the massive Motherland Statue, provides gorgeous views of the city below."
The "Destinations on the Rise" List exemplify that these destinations have gotten the biggest increase in traveler feedback on TripAdvisor this past year.
TripAdvisor's spokeswoman Brooke Ferencsik said to USA Today that the awards are compiled with "an algorithm that took into account factors including traveler feedback quality through reviews and opinions on destination accommodations, restaurants, attractions as well as interest through clicks on TripAdvisor, and 'want to go' pins placed by travelers on the TripAdvisor Cities I've Visited Facebook app."
Other destinations on the rise spots on the list include, Mexico City and Guadalajara, Mexico and Turin, Italy amongst others. "Mexico City offers a unique collision of contemporary city life and historic preservation. Visit the National Museum of Anthropology (Museo Nacional de Antropologia) for a comprehensive introduction to Mexican culture and history, then explore sites like the spectacular Piramides de Teotihuacan and the partially excavated Museo del Templo Mayor," says TripAdvisor's website.
