Titanic Jewels to Be Exhibited in Three Cities

Jewelry recovered from The Titanic will go on display in a three city tour. The Associated Press reported that the jewelry all from one bag found in a mission in 1987. "The collection includes diamond and sapphire rings, brooches, necklaces, cuff links and a gold pocket watch," reported The AP.

"Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" opened in Atlanta earlier in the year in conjunction with the Titanic's 100th sinking anniversary on April 15. This uncovered jewelry will be added to the collection.

Premiere Exhibit's website states about the Titanic Artifact exhibit, "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the 100 year history of Titanic. Along the way visitors will learn countless stories of heroism and humanity that pay honor to the indomitable force of the human spirit in the face of tragedy."

The jeweles will be exhibit for two months at Premier's gallery which is located at the Atlantic Station development and then will travel to Orlando, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada.

The jewels will be exhibited by Premier Exhibitions which owns RMS Titanic, who has the rights to uncover and explore The Titanic's remains in the North Atlantic.

Alexandra Klingelhofer who is vice president of RMS Titanic Inc, said to the AP, "Going down two and a half miles below the ocean, recovering a bag, bringing it back up and opening it and finding ... jewelry. We're able to give them a glimpse of how it must have been to have opened that for the first time and to see, together, the beautiful jewelry of the Edwardian Period."

Conservators have been studying the jewelry to understand more about the individual passengers who were on the vessel.
