British Airway's Plane Dons a Mustache for "Movember" to Raise Awareness for Prostate Cancer

Jumping on the Movember bandwagon, British Airways' Airbus A319 is donning a giant mustache.

Movember combines "mustache" and November and is a campaign to raise awareness for prostate cancer. During the annual month-long campaign people grow out their mustache for the month of November.

"During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo's, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men's health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives," states Movember's website.

Liz Wilkinson, British Airways head of health services said to The Telgraph, "We're always delighted to support Movember, it's a charity that is very dear to our hearts here at British Airways, especially as our former CEO Lord Marshall suffered from the disease."

CNN Go reported that last year British Airways and its male staff raised $128,000 for the Prostate Cancer Charity.

Wilkinson added to The Telegraph, "As well as raising money, the aim of the campaign is to raise awareness on the importance of early detection and prevention of the illness."

The plane's mustache is a "connoisseur" style. A spokesperson for the airline said to The Telegraph that the airline "considered several styles of moustache for the aeroplane - including the pencil (a la Errol Flynn), the handlebar (as worn by Joseph Stalin), and the horseshoe (think Hulk Hogan)."

Movember's website states, "The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men's health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG Foundation."
