The JetBlue pilot who had a meltdown mid flight, has been released from jail. Reuters reported that the pilot's actions caused the flight to have to make an emergency landing.
On March 27, Osbon was on a flight from New York City to Las Vegas when he started running up and down the aisles of the plane and screaming about Iraq and al-Qaida. Reuters reported that he said, "We're not going to Vegas" as well as "You'd better start praying now!"
He was then locked out of the cabin by the first officer on the flight. They made an emergency landing in Amarillo, reported Reuters.
Clayton Osbon, plead guilty by "insanity" in his July hearing. He as charged with interference with a flight crew. He was judged not guilty and U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson, 49, said Osbon if released "would not create a substantial risk of bodily injury to another person or serious damage to the property of another," reported Reuters.
In July he was ordered to be examined by psychiatrics and sent to the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina. Reuters reported that a psychiatric said the "insanity" was brought on by lack of sleep.
Conditions upon his release include that he is not allowed to get on a plane without the court's permission and is is not allowed to communicate with anyone onboard that flight. He is also not allowed to purchase alcohol and other controlled substances, Reuters reported. His release date will be set after prosecutors and his lawyers agree on a date.
