A man in Texas has been executed on Thursday. The Associated Press Reported that in 2002 he was arrested for killing a woman after he broke into her home.
Mario Swain, 33, was given a lethal injection because he killed Lola Nixon in Longview, Texas over ten years ago, The AP reported. He was pronounced dead 30 minutes later at 6:39 p.m.
"Evidence showed Swain threw the 46-year-old Nixon's body into the trunk of her BMW after killing her, drove to a remote area outside of the city about 120 miles east of Dallas and dumped it in the back seat of an abandoned car," reported The AP.
This is the 13th execution this yea in Texas, The AP reported. Last month the U.S. Supreme court denied reviewing the case again and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals also refused to appeal the trial. An appeal was sent for Swain saying that a testimony given during his trial in 2003 was false.
Swain was described as a "serial killer in training" by Lance Larison a prosecutor in his trial. Nixon, was reported missing after she missed a dinner with friends the night she was killed.
"According to evidence and testimony at trial, Swain gathered information about women he wanted to rob and then would attack them, forcing them to inhale the anesthetic halothane and hitting them over the head with a wrench or shooting them with a stun gun," reported the AP.
When Swain was caught, he at first blamed friends for the burglary but then told police where her body was. It was determined that Nixon had been beaten with a tire iron and strangled and stabbed. He also used Nixon's credit card according to evidence and gave a piece of jewelry he stole from her house to a friend, reported the AP.
