Playboy is set to open its first Playboy Club in India. CNN Go reported that even though the magazine is banned in India, the club will open in Goa, known for its hedonistic beach parties and idyllic locale.
The club is set to open in mid-December and will be 2,043 square meters. CNN Go reported that it will be located in the Candolim area of Goa on the beach and will be Playboy's first beach location for a club anywhere in the world.
CNN Go reported that the bunnies will the outfits will be less revealing. PB Lifestyle will operate the franchise in India. Sanjay Gupta who is CEO of PB Lifestyle said according to CNN Go, "We are clear about one thing: There will absolutely be no nudity. The bunnies will be suited to Indian sensibilities and moral values."
Gupta said to The Daily Mail, "We are positioning it around lifestyle, aspiration and glamour," instead of nudity.
Gupta said to India West that they are redesigning the bunny costume to keep in line with Indian sensibilities and toning down the outfit for India, working closely with Playboy.
Playboy has over 40 clubs around the world. CNN Go reports that famous brand has plans to open more Playboy affiliated things in India, including another Playboy Club in Hydrabad and wants to open hotels and cafes as well, The Times of India reported.
Gupta said to India West that Playboy plans to invest invest $37.5 million in new ventures of the next five years in India. The first Playboy club was at 116 E. Walton Street in downtown Chicago on February 29, 1960.
