The "Future Stars" DLC for 2K's "WWE 2K17" was officially released last January 17 for all available platforms. Players who have the Season Pass can download the new content for free, but those who want to purchase the DLC will need to pay a fee of $8.99 in order to gain access to the content.
The "Future Stars" update is perhaps the most anticipated addition to the professional wrestling simulator to date. The update includes new Superstars such as Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Mojo Rawley, Austin Aries, and Tye Dillinger. This marks the first appearance for all five wrestlers in a WWE video game.
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson perform on the "Raw" brand and are collectively known as The Club. Mojo Rawley is one half of the tag team known as the Hype Bros with Zack Ryder, who is currently injured. Rawley performs for the "Smackdown" brand. Austin Aries and Tye Dillinger are both currently in WWE's developmental territory "NXT". Aries is out with an injury and is doing commentary while he recovers.
Aries has the highest rating of the newly released Superstars with an overall rating of 85. Luke Gallows is second with an 82 followed by his tag team partner Karl Anderson who has a rating of 80. Tye Dillinger also has an overall rating of 80, and Mojo Rawley is last with a rating of 76. It is nice to see the likes of The Club, Austin Aries and Tye Dillinger finally being added to WWE 2K17 as it provides a breath of fresh air to a game that already has a pretty stacked roster.
The next update that fans are still waiting for is the Hall of Fame showcase. However, Forbes reports that it will not be released until sometime close to Wrestlemania 33, which is this March. According to WWE 2K's official website, will include some of wrestling's most memorable matches such as Sting vs. Ric Flair in Clash of Champions 1988, Cactus Jack and Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Fabulous Freebirds from WCW Saturday Night 1992, and Sting vs. Bret Hart from Halloween Havoc 1998. The Hall of Fame showcase will be available for $9.99.
