Matthew McConaughey Says His ‘Gold’ Character Is His Favorite, Grateful For Wife Camila Alves’ Support

Matthew McConaughey is one of the most fortunate actors in Hollywood. His wife Camila Alves is like a precious jewel to him. The 47-year-old actor was grateful for his wife's support while filming the movie "Gold."

The movie required the actor and his family to live in Thailand while the film is in production. He praises his wife for "uprooting everything" including their three kids and going with him to a totally different country. "The Sea of Trees" actor said that they spent five years of their lives making the film according to ET.

He praised his wife for telling him, "Don't look in the rearview mirror. Go do your work, get obsessed with that. I got it. I got your back." The actor enjoyed the whole movie-making experience working in another place with his family and a supportive wife. The couple brought along with them their three kids, Levi, 8, Vida, 7, and Livingston, 4.

The father-of-three said about his character, "Kenny Wells' indulgences work for six months and then I had to come back and tighten up a little bit, but he's a wonderful character." He shared. "A wonderful American archetype. He's my favorite character I've ever played."

He gained weight to effectively portray the businessman who wants to find thrill every time. The plot tells the story of the $6 billion fraud which is considered the biggest mining scam of that time. John Federhof and Michael de Guzman formed a partnership and declared that there is gold in the jungles of Borneo.

The scam was unbelievable because no one, not even those big time investors questioned about the presence of the gold as reported by News. To further keep the lies, de Guzman destroyed his wedding ring to get bits of gold to be inserted on rocks samples and convince geologists that there is really gold.

Matthew McConaughey movie "Gold" is a timely story of fraud and scheming that frequently happens in real life. The movie hits the theaters on January 27, 2017.
