'Clash Of Clans' And 'Clash Royale' Forums Compromised By Security Breach According To Supercell

Another website has been hacked and this time users of a hugely popular game have been affected. The creator of popular mobile games, Supercell, has told its users to change their passwords. The forums of "Clash Royale" and "Clash of Clans" were determined to have been hacked.

According to the newspaper Daily Express, the breach that it experienced was confirmed by the mobile game developer. The incident apparently happened back in September 2016. The company has strongly recommended that users change their passwords as soon as possible.

Users must now question if their accounts have been breached. They should also find out how to change their passwords and enter a new one.

The breach could possibly affect over a million players. Following the major security breach, the developer of hit mobile games such as "Clash of Clans", "Clash Royale", "Boom Beach", "Hay Day", warned players of their games to monitor their security.

After the company determined that the security breach they had suffered was a major one, over a million users on forums devoted to their mobile games, were urged to change their passwords immediately. The company sent an email informing users that their forums were breached in September 2016.

Supercell revealed that user details were leaked online through an attack on its member forums. Gaming website Touch Arcade reported that third party hackers were able to get user information including email addresses and encrypted passwords using a vulnerability.

The breach compromised over a million user accounts. Breach notification site LeakBase, provided details on the leaked information which included usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, and hashed passwords.

The mobile game developer has been notifying users to immediately change their passwords. To avoid intrusions, everyone with a forum account has been asked by the company to change their passwords.

The company reported that their preliminary investigation suggests that the breach occured in September 2016 and that it has since been closed. Game accounts have not been compromised as far as Supercell knows. It would still be a good idea however for users to change the passwords of their game accounts also.

The developer posted a statement on its user forums that they take any such breaches very seriously. They follow strict policies when it comes to security. They stated that the breach only affects their forums and they confirmed that game accounts including those of "Clash of Clans" and "Clash Royale" have not been compromised.
