Ryanair, Europe's low cost airline carrier, is well known for its stringent bag policy and carry on requirements. The Huffington Post reported that the airline booted off a woman from Spain because she broke the one piece of hand luggage rule that they have.
The Telegraph reported that she had a book and a scroll that wouldn't fit into her carry on bag. The woman asked local police to allow her to stay on the plane, but Ryannair asked her to leave the plane despite her pleas.
The woman was thrown off the plane at Valencia airport in Spain and the video below shows a Spanish Guardia Civil officer booting her off the plane.
Ryanair's baggage policy states on its website, "Strictly one item of cabin baggage per passenger (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm is permitted. (handbag, briefcase, laptop, shop purchases, camera etc.) must be carried in your 1 permitted piece of cabin baggage.
xtra/oversized cabin baggage will be refused at the boarding gate, or where available, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee of £50/€50. If you are unsure, check at the Bag Drop desk before going through security. "
The Huffington Post reported that she had tried to pay for oversized bags but her credit card hadn't been working. A spokesperson said to The Telegraph. "This passenger was in breach of airport security regulations, and having become disruptive was properly removed from the aircraft at the request of Ryanair agents."
