'Dragon Ball Super' Episode 74 'The Unbeatable Great Saiyaman' Recap

"Dragon Ball Super" Episode 74 focuses on Gohan's second persona as The Great Saiyaman, but instead of being an overpowered adversary to the bad guys, this week's episode shifts to something of a different problem that can't be solved with a barrage of ki blasts alone.

In Comicbook's recap, Gohan was able to escape Jaco along with his new found friend Cocoa and afterwards, he finally succeeds in convincing the alien about him not being Watagash. However, Jaco explained how Watagash is a threat to everybody and eventually requested Gohan's assistance.

Later in the episode, Cocoa invites Gohan to her place, which happens to be a move in order to create a scandal. Apparently, Barry Khan, a jealous star, was pulling the strings, intent of capturing any image through the camera and show Videl that Gohan is cheating on her.

Fortunately, Cocoa learned about Gohan's pure intent of making Videl and Pan happy, though there was an effort to prevent any pictures taken, one have slipped away and this reached Videl. Gohan went in panic and headed straight back home to just end up seeing Barry crashing his place with the pictures, which Videl didn't buy.

Enraged, Watagash decided to possess Barry due to the darkness in his heart. The battle started between the two, though Barry kidnapped Pan and challenged Gohan to meet up with him and settle the score at the film studio.

Pan was effortlessly saved by Videl, but Gohan also prevented Barry from getting killed when Jaco stepped in and attempted to help him in the fight and putting an end to Watagash. The battle wasn't an easy win, but Gohan proved to be the unbeatable Great Saiyaman that he is and saved everybody. "Dragon Ball Super" have started embracing such fillers, though fans find the shift to different characters interesting and keeps the show fresh.

In IGN's review, "Dragon Ball Super" Episode 74 got a score of 8.5/10 as it is very rare for the anime series to tackle such issues. The story wasn't all about being all powerful and destroying everything and instead, a villain sought to destroy a family instead, which concludes with a lot of moral lesson on the side.
