Robin Hood Theme Park Could Make It's Way to the UK

A Robin Hood theme park is vying to open in the UK. The Huffington Post reported that Nottinghamshire City would be working with Discovery Attractions on a new Robin Hood themed park that will be a "world class visitor attraction celebrating the Forest and life and times of Robin Hood, [which] will be located by his spiritual home at Sherwood Forest," said the Nottinghamshire City Council website according to The Huffington Post.

ITV reports that the government of Nottingshire County, where Sherwood Forest is located, wants to build the project which would cost approximately $20 million.

The Mirror reported that the theme park would be 40-acres and include a forest with talking trees, dungeons, a medieval fortress and a jousting field and maze. There will also be activities common in the medieval times including archery and cookery demonstrations. The plans still fully needs to be approved but if it did, it The Telegraph reported that the project's first phase is set to be completed by 2014 summer and will include the café, shop and visitor center.

Rob Gray, marketing director of Discovery Attractions said in a press release according to Fox News,

"Discover Robin Hood will be the first in a series of world-class visitor attractions from Discovery Attractions, based on Britain's rich heritage of myths and legends. It will bring to life the story of Robin Hood in a way that is both entertaining and educational for kids and adults alike."

The actual theme park Discover Robin Hood should be open by spring of 2015. Fox News reported that Discovery Attractions has also worked with the likes of Madame Tussauds, a popular wax museum attraction in many cities around the world, including New York and London.
