Why The 32GB Storage For Nintendo Switch Wouldn't Matter That Much

The Nintendo Switch may be sound underwhelming due to the lack of some modern and pretty norm specs, especially the internal storage. While this may sound like a big deal at first, having 32 GB of space may just be enough for everybody and with the expandable memory support feature, the limit seem to not matter at all anymore.

To prove the point further, a recent report from Gamespot indicates that the Nintendo Switch will be able to support all types of Micro SDXC memory cards. This has been confirmed by the company itself when asked about any available means of expanding the limited internal storage.

Nintendo told Game Informer that the Switch is compatible with SDXC cards and the size can go up as big as 2 TB. However, it should be noted that 2 TB SD cards aren't even out of the market as of yet, but the system is confirmed to be ready to support them once it does.

At the moment, the largest SDXC card are those, which amounts to 512 GB. By standards, these capacities are already on par with base units of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but these type of SDXC cards may be expensive to the point of having an asking price up to $200.

For those worried about running out of space easily and being forced to buy expensive memory card expansions, the Nintendo Switch is unlike the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The hybrid console uses cartridges and the need to install the applications to the console is not present. This would only be otherwise if users will opt to get games digitally, where in case of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," around 40 percent of the internal storage will already be filled.

The Nintendo Switch is already going to be priced at $300 and it may be smart for people to reconsider the need of purchasing some extra storage for half the price of the unit. This may be of less significance to those who aren't ready to try checking how deep, their pockets go.
