The world's first hotel made of snow and ice has recently opened. Northern Sweden's Ice Hotel 365 is now accommodating visitors for the entire year.
After 27 years of being erected and remodeled each winter, northern Sweden's Ice Hotel 365 will be the first frozen lodging to stay open the whole year round. Ice Hotel 365 infused a solar-powered cooling technology that will allow a portion of the renowned hotel, including a bar, art gallery, and 10 luxury suites, to host guests seeking for midnight sun as well as northern lights.
Ice Hotel 365 is located 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle in Jukkasjärvi. According to CNN, the hotel has been built to a new blueprint each year, utilizing 5,000 tons of ice from the nearby River Torne in the spring and stored cold during the summer. Ice Hotel 365 opened in November 2016 offer visitors a long-awaited substitute to the classic wintertime.
Ice Hotel 365 has 9 luxury suites, each with a dedicated sauna and bathroom, and 11 art suites, all sculptured by hand-picked artists. Bloomberg reported that Italian architect Luca Roncoroni traveled to the Arctic Circle to design a Victorian Ice Suite for the Ice Hotel 365 in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. The rooms at Ice Hotel 365 can cost up to $1,000 a night.
